About Me
Soohyun (Ariel) Hwang (황수현) received her B.S. degree in Health Management and Education with a double major in Social Initiative Track, Scranton Honors Program from Ewha Womans University in 2013. She received the MPH degree in Health Behavior and Health Education from University of Michigan in 2015. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Health Policy and Management with a minor in Implementation Science at the University of North Carolina, Gillings School of Global Public Health under the supervision of Prof. Sarah Birken. Her main research interests are cancer survivorship and promoting smoke free policies. From May. 2015 to Mar. 2017, she was a research associate at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Clinical Management Research and worked for optimizing veteran-centered Prostate Cancer Survivorship Care (P-CARE). Also, she was a research assistant at the Center for Managing Chronic Disease (CMCD) and an Angela Bowen Williamson Fellow at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhood (PRCHN), Cleveland, OH.

Interests and Skills
I am interested in and enjoy conducting research in Cancer survivorship. Moreover, I enjoy investigating theory selection and their applications. For my research,
I try to take both qualitative and quantitative methods, i.e., mixed methods, in developing new ways that enhance health quality and delivery. Implementing evidence-based practices and innovations in cancer care are also of interest to me.
